| My first pit stop - B dot. lol |
With a great head start my first day, I'm well on my to the Yukon!
Having travelled approximately 800km the first day and 717km day 2, I've taken in a lot of stunning scenery. Ontario is reeeeally beautiful, especially the further north you get. I've never driven further than Temagami (north) or Espanola (northwest) so this is a real treat!
I'll let you in on a little secret...
It's always been my dream to get in the car and drive for as long as I can, for as far as I can. Guess you can't get much further than the Yukon in Canada so one could say it's a dream come true:)
Here's a few snapshots of the Ontario portion of my drive (and experiences) across our beautiful land:

| Lake Superior Provincial Park-Old Womens Bay. I was the only "photographer" here without a real camera. This is a serious photographers haven apparently? I see why, it was quite stunning! |

| Another Lake Superior PP pitstop. I followed the river, which lead me to the trail, which took me to the lake:)) |

| Had
to stop and see Terry! The bronze statue placed on the top of a steep
hill overlooking the Bay of Thunder. AKA Thunder Bay. Too bad I couldn't
see it through the snow!! |
Story of the day:
While stopped at Pebble Beach, enjoying the views and eating my snacky lunch, I walked over to the garbage in front of the car and when I turned around to walk back, noticed a "bird ornament" sticking out of the front of the grills. Ahhhhh, I hit a bird! It's poor head was on the outside & it's body in the grills (sorry Paul:(). I fetched a stick to try to free it when a lady pulled up next to me, rolled down the window and shouted out, "is it dead?!" I was nearly in tears trying to free the poor creature (even though it was beyond dead) when Nancy offered me paper towel to pull it out. Here's how the conversation went after she got out of her van and walked over to me and my grill ornament;
Me: "I just can't do it. The poor thing is stuck right in there. I wish I were a hunter and could deal better with this sort of thing. I don't even kill bugs in my house! (I get flustered and say weird things...)
Nancy: *takes one look at the birds head sticking out (body inside)* "Oh sh*t."
Me: "I know right?! It's my brothers car. I'm driving it up to the Yukon for him. I just came from The Soo. Well, actually Toronto..."
Nancy: "Oh F (yup, she sure did) and jumped back. I immediately retracted my statement.
Me: "No I'm NOT from there. I was just passing through. I'm from Brantford" *phew" #covidtimes
We chatted back and forth. Nancy from Marathon, Heather from Brantford, all while I continued to push the bird into the grill where I could retrive it with Nancy's paper towel and toss it in the trash bin:( Nancy was intriged with me going it alone and I told her she could pray from me.
Nancy: "Jesus Christ go with you to the Yukon" (Yup, that's what she said.)
Me: "So far He's been with me the whole time." :)
Nice to me you Nancy. I wished her well living up here, Nancy from Marathon.
That's all for now. Thunder Bay for the night and onto Winnipeg in the morning!
